Chuck Pagano, who is in his first season as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, has been diagnosed with leukemia.
Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star first reported that Pagano was out with a "serious illness."
Later, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported that Pagano has a "very treatable" form of Leukemia and that the doctors are saying his chances of recovery are "good."
Mortensen added that Pagano is expected to be hospitalized for six weeks and that the team is optimistic that he he will coach again.
Pagano, who was previously the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, had been experiencing fatigue since the beginning of the season, and was bruising easily.
Bruce Arians, the Colts offensive coordinator will serve as the interim coach. The Colts are currently 1-2.
